CHEVOLET 3100 TRUCK OVERVIEW:
These trucks were updated only subtly from their introduction in the summer of 1947 until they were replaced by the Task Force trucks in 1955, so discerning one model year from another takes practice. The 1947-’50 trucks didn’t have vent or “wing” windows, while the ’51 and later trucks were equipped with them. The trucks built during the Korean War, 1951-’53, had less chrome and pushbutton door handles became standard issue in 1952. Pre 1949 Advance Design trucks had their gas fillers mounted in the box, while from ’49 on, the filler was moved to the cab. The 1954 and first series ’55 trucks are easiest to spot because they used one-piece windshields and bold crosshair-shaped grilles.
